For the last 3-4 weeks the dryer has been making a very loud squeaking/screeching noise everytime it is spin. I replaced the idler wheel and all other wheels the drum sits on are fine. There is a lot of (what looks like) belt dust inside the machine where the idler is which must be part of the problem but changing the part didnt fix the issue.
Sep 18, 2015· Below we look at 3 of the most common tumble dryer faults and explain how to fix them. Drum Doesn't Spin but Motor Works: To effectively dry your laundry, your tumble dryer not only needs to provide heat but the drum also needs to rotate, enabling your laundry to tumble. However, a common fault with tumble dryers is the drum doesn't rotate.
To determine if the drum bearing is at fault, remove the dryer belt and try turning the drum by hand. If the drum rotates freely, it is unlikely that the drum bearing is worn out. If the drum makes squealing or grinding sounds when turned and/or is hard to turn, check the drum bearing and replace it if necessary.
A squealing or squeaking noise that has perhaps recently gotten more like thumping or scraping can be a clue that the problem originates in your dryer's idler pulley. This part supplies tension on the drum belt to keep the belt from slipping on the drive motor pulley or the drum when your dryer's spinning a load.
Sep 19, 2012· I have a White Knight 3kg tumble dryer that is about 18 months old (so out of warranty). I have just put in a loud of washing to dry and now it is making a squeaking noise on each rotation (like it needs oiling). I cannot afford to buy a new tumble dryer so I am hoping this is nothing serious and just a noise dryers make after a while.
My dryer problems started 2 months out of warranty with the loud squealing sound. Pulley/roller/whatever you call it was replaced. Since then, I've had 4 more service calls, the pulley/roller replaced *again*, plus belts, etc. Have another service appointment set for Monday, because the dryer isn't turning. This is the 2nd time for this problem.

Jun 01, 2010· A squeaking or squealing noise from your clothes dryer often means the rubber belt that turns the dryer drum has started hardening and losing its elasticity, causing it to slip as the drum turns. Unscrew and remove the screws that are facing upward in the door opening, which will allow you to remove the top of the dryer.
Once the belt is off, you can removed the 3 center screws from the inside of the drum. After you've done this the drum should fall right out. You'll notice in the back of the dryer a round disk that the drum was mounted to. This is the Hitch bearing since it looks just like a tow hitch It just lifts up and pulls out.
A defective or broken rear bearing will make squealing or squeaking noises, and will have to be replaced. Drum Glides or Slides. Next, inspect the drum glides or slides. In both gas and electric dryer, parts called the drum glides provide support to the front part of the dryer's drum on both sides. The glides are built from Teflon, nylon, or ...
Jul 29, 2020· Final Thoughts on Fixing a Squeaky Dryer. At this point, your dryer should be completely squeak-free. Congratulations! However, if you decided not to bother fixing the dryer, you could try some temporary solutions. Firstly, you can simply move your dryer into a soundproof laundry room, as I've explained in a previous article. On the other hand, many people don't have a whole room to spare ...
May 04, 2020· The dryer has a metal or plastic drum that rotates, causing the wet clothes to tumble. Whether the dryer is belt-driven or direct-drive, the parts that turn the drum may cause the dryer to squeak. However, the different components that support the drum and allow it to rotate freely could also be responsible for the noise.
Oct 16, 2014· The dryer drum bearing is there to support the back of the drum. If the dryer makes a scraping or squeaking noise then this bearing is probably worn out. Remove and replace this bearing if you find it to be worn or damaged. The dryer will need to be taken apart to install a new bearing.
4. Replace the drum support rollers. Some components on a dryer will wear out over time. This results in squealing, squeaking and sometimes thumping noise. In case of these sounds that come from within a dryer, worn out drum support rollers are often to blame. The purpose of drum rollers is to support the drum.
